Don’t Answer That Question

These kinds of questions are commonly used as security questions for password recovery. If you have ever signed up for online services with your credit union or another financial institution, they have you set up security questions that are then used when you lock yourself out of your account or when they are verifying your identity because you are using a new device.

Ten most common security questions:

  1. What is your favorite book?
  2. What is the name of the road you grew up on?
  3. What is your mother’s maiden name?
  4. What was the name of your first/current/favorite pet?
  5. What was the first company that you worked for?
  6. Where did you meet your spouse?
  7. Where did you go to high school/college?
  8. What is your favorite food?
  9. What city were you born in?
  10. Where is your favorite place to vacation?

Keep in mind, the more personal information that you leave open to the public, the more you put yourself at risk. All we are saying is be careful and protect your personal info.
