The Credit Union Difference
As a financial cooperative, Fortera Credit Union offers the same products and services as a bank with an important difference. The Credit Union is owned by its members with the mission to provide the best rates and services to the members. It is not able to be "sold" to another financial institution. So, if you like being a part of a local financial institution that focuses on you and your community, become part of the Fortera Credit Union family. We are focused on providing products and services that are in your best interest for your financial success.
You can take comfort knowing your deposits are insured up to a combined $250,000 by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). The NCUSIF is administered by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government. In addition, Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are insured separately up to $250,000 by the NCUA.
At no additional cost to you, the credit union also provides Excess Share Insurance, providing an additional $250,000 coverage for accounts insured by NCUA (NCUSIF). This coverage is not available to banks - this is Credit Union exclusive.

Important Information About Opening a New Account
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.
